A BRAND VIDEO or “BRAND STORY VIDEO” is a piece of content that aims to relate your company to an audience through creative and engaging storytelling. This style of video introduces viewers to the essence of your brand - communicating your values and style, while showcasing products or services.

These videos are typically 1-3 minutes in length and are comprised of authentic interviews and B Roll footage to help visually carry the story. When executed right, these are long-lasting marketing assets that work to leave positive lasting impressions on your target audience for years to come.

Derek's Approach

My approach as a documentary and commercial cinematographer is rooted in storytelling that feels both intentional and unforced. I prioritize authenticity—capturing real moments as they unfold—while elevating them through a cinematic lens that emphasizes composition, movement, and emotional depth.

I operate in a hybrid space between vérité and crafted visual narrative: nimble enough to work run-and-gun when the story demands it, but deliberate in how I shape light, frame subjects, and design sequences in post. My work isn’t just about coverage—it’s about meaning. Every shot serves a purpose—whether it’s revealing character, reinforcing a brand’s identity, or building a larger narrative arc.

At the core, my philosophy is simple: let real stories lead, then enhance them with cinematic discipline to create films that feel honest, immersive, and impactful.
